sad skeptics and refugees of fright
bewildered by fame and appetite
sickened cells and fractious bones
fuel for unworthy souls
restless and listless and frayed
fidget to make it through another day
quarrelsome rabid foaming froth
lie awake in disbelief and shock
for what was once a perfect union
has been lynched in one evening of ruin
