Nostalgia

The afternoon
Old letters
I miss Ms. Roller
Manitou Springs
Rolling green hills
Red Rocks
Garden Of The Gods
Summer rain
Nostalgia in envelope form
Letters written
Mangled and worn
Stood the test of time though
Nearly 20 years
And looking back
After reading them
I’m not so sure why
She was so angry with me
That day I arrived back in town
I guess in some way
I must have broke her heart
But mine was broken too
Life will do that to you
Either way, I wish her much happiness
And I hope she found that person
She was looking for
I hope she got everything she wished for
Everything she’s ever wanted
She deserves it
And much more
I hope she has not suffered from melancholia
Or crazed ups and downs
The roller-coaster ride of emotion
By which my soul seems forever bound
But I do alright
I seem to always make it through
I’m sure she does too
We all have to (until the final curtain)
I just wanted to take a moment
To think of her again
To express my gratitude
To somehow poetically touch her
I’d like to write something magnificent
Something that would be worthy of her
But this is all I got at the moment
And it goes against my better judgement
To be so personal
But you see
I miss her
I really wish her well
And in some strange cosmic way
I still love her
